A Taste of Home
Apna Spicy Hut is a family-owned East Indian restaurant in Winnipeg serving authentic Punjabi and Indian cuisine with a focus on homemade flavors and affordable pricing. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Sarabjit (Sarbjeet) Uppal and Simranjit Uppal, our restaurant was established with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide people with the taste of home-cooked Indian food.
The name "Apna," meaning "ours" in Hindi/Punjabi, reflects our restaurant's mission to provide customers with the taste of home-cooked Indian food. All menu items are based on the personal family recipes of matriarch Simranjit Uppal, ensuring authentic, consistent flavors that reflect traditional Punjabi home cooking. The family, including their daughter Kiran Uppal who assists with office work and management, is actively involved in day-to-day operations.
Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at both our Logan Avenue location and Henderson Highway location, we cater to customers at any time—whether you're craving early morning meals or need a satisfying late-night dinner. Our extensive menu features everything from beloved classics like butter chicken, biryani, and naan bread to traditional street food favorites like samosas and pakoras. Our #1 bestseller is our Tiffin Service - daily meal packages that provide authentic home-cooked taste.
"The food we make here is similar to the taste we have at home. That was the whole goal of starting this, so we can offer people that homemade food taste." - Sarabjit Uppal, Co-Founder
